Life comes at you fast.

One day, you’re on the beach, sipping on a margarita with a healthy bank account. The next day, you get home to find out you’ve been laid off, your AC unit gave up, and your wife’s car needs a new transmission.

Sometimes, taking out a personal loan is your only option. You’re not alone. According to TransUnion, 22.5 million Americans have an unsecured personal loan.

That said, all loans aren’t equal. Interest rates, terms, and lender reputation can have a huge effect on your experience.

In this Cash USA review, I’ll lay out how CashUSA works, look at the pros and cons, break down whether it’s a viable loan option, and answer other questions related to this online loan broker.

What is Cash USA?

CashUSA is an online personal loan platform that connects borrowers with its network of lenders – meaning CashUSA isn’t a lender themselves.

Think of them as a “matchmaking service.” But instead of setting you up for a hot date, they match with a lender who’s looked at your situation and is willing to loan you some money.

With the approval based on creditworthiness, a borrower can apply for a loan anywhere from $500 to $10,000. Payment terms can vary anywhere from 90 days to 72 months.

CashUSA’s platform is designed for borrowers who have poor credit (or even no credit) and are unable to get loans through the usual means. Along with that, the company only offers smaller loans for no more than $10,000 with interest rates anywhere from 5.99% to 35.99% and terms ranging between 90 days to 72 months.

They also offer customers and potential customers an education center on their website. This resource includes information on how to manage your personal finances, including your debt and credit, and banking information in general.

How Does Cash USA Work?

To get a personal loan through CashUSA, you’ll first need to fill out an online application that only takes a few minutes, according to their website.

You can request a loan from $500 to $10,000, though how much you’re actually approved for will depend on your credit.

After that, your loan request will go through CashUSA’s network of third-party lenders. If they choose to offer you the loan, you’ll need to sign an e-sign a loan agreement. After approval, CashUSA says you could receive funds as quickly as within one business day (depending on the lender).

You’ll also need to follow some basic qualifying criteria, including:

  • Monthly net income of $1,000 with at least 90 days of employment.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Primary account holder of a valid checking account.
  • Work and home phone numbers.
  • Valid email address.

If you meet those requirements, you’ll be able to apply for a loan through CashUSA

Is Cash USA Legit?

Yes, CashUSA is legit.

Is Cash USA Safe?

CashUSA isn’t a scam. It’s an online lending platform that works with lenders across the country to provide loans to borrowers with bad credit or no credit.

As an online-only transaction company, CashUSA says they understand the absolute necessity of maintaining secure transactions over the Internet. According to the privacy policy on their official website, they use industry-standard encryption to protect your sensitive information.

Keep in mind that because of the nature of this service, CashUSA will share your personal information with a large number of lenders. If that makes you uncomfortable, you may want to reconsider using this company.

Pros and Cons of Cash USA

Any loan company will come with its share of positives and negatives. As part of this Cash USA review, let’s take a look at this company’s pros and cons.

Pros

  • Designed for borrowers with bad or no credit. CashUSA’s network of lenders work specifically with people who might not qualify for loans through other traditional outlets.
  • Loan applications are processed quickly. If you’re approved for a loan, CashUSA says your loan amount could be deposited in less than one business day.
  • Free to use and available online 24/7.
  • Loan platform is secure and uses industry-standard encryption.

Cons

  • Loan APRs vary based on lender, but rates can go as high as 35.99%.
  • The company openly says it will sell your personal information, so you could end up on a lot of unwanted email lists.
  • CashUSA isn’t a direct lender, so you’ll have no control over which companies and lenders process your personal information.
  • Loan amounts are relatively small, maxing out at $10,000.

Cash USA Reviews

Depending on where you look, reviews on CashUSA are mixed.

On the flip side, Trust Pilot’s Cash USA review gives the company a 2.5 rating, which equates to “Poor” on their scale. In 5 user reviews, all the complaints focus on how the company shares personal information.

Most of the negative information about CashUSA comes through reviews focusing on the unwanted spam emails and calls that users receive after having their loan application processed.

Most complaints don’t focus on the loan process itself. So, if you’re not very patient with spam emails and calls, CashUSA might not be for you.

Cash USA Reviews Reddit

Reddit doesn’t offer much commentary on CashUSA. One company with a similar name, CashNetUSA, appears on Reddit frequently and isn’t to be confused with CashUSA.

As for the small amount of posts, they focus mostly on companies that are fraudulently representing CashUSA

Is Cash USA Worth It?

The service provided by CashUSA is free, so from that perspective, it’s an easy way to apply for a smaller loan for users with bad credit.

The answer to this question becomes a little more unclear when it comes to the hassle of what users experience after having used the CashUSA service.

As I’ve outlined prior in this Cash USA review, many users complain about the unwanted spam emails and calls they receive from other companies when their loan application process is over.

CashUSA is upfront about how it sells personal information to other businesses and marketing partners. If the value of getting a loan from CashUSA’s partners outweighs the hassle of the resulting spam, then you will likely be fine using their service.

However, if you aren’t a big fan of unwanted calls and emails, you might reconsider using CashUSA
