Why Your Business Should Advertise on TikTok

Jumping into new advertising platforms like TikTok is exciting, especially when you consider these benefits:

  • TikTok makes marketing easy
  • You can choose between several types of ads
  • It strengthens your content creation skills

TikTok Makes Marketing Easy

TikTok provides you with everything you need to run successful ad campaigns. They have tools like easy-to-understand graphs and advice on how to find the best audience.

Unlike YouTube ads, HD-quality video isn’t necessary on TikTok. You won’t have to invest in fancy cameras, lighting equipment, or sound gear. Simply whip out your phone, film something catchy and creative, and publish it.

You Can Choose Between Several Types Of Ads

TikTok has a variety of different ads.

Their options include:

  • In-feed ads
  • TopView ads
  • Branded hashtags
  • Brand takeovers
  • Branded effects

Having options lets you present your brand to your audience in every possible way.

For instance, with in-feed ads, users will see your short clip when they’re scrolling through the personalized “For You” feed.

But TikTok doesn’t show your ads to everyone. Their algorithm features your videos to users who have previously shown interest in your niche.

So if you sell espresso beans, TikTok will show your ads to users who follow coffee influencers.

To support this, a neurodynamics company by the name of Neuro-Insight, conducted an independent study that revealed that “users were 23% more likely to remember relevant TikTok ads compared to other digital video ads.” In other words, your business ads would be more effective on a platform such as TikTok.

It Strengthens Your Content Creation Skills

TikTok encourages you to get in touch with your creative side. Produce content that will capture your audience’s attention.

This skill transfers over to every part of your business from pay-per-click ads to blog writing and sales pitches.

How to Advertise Business on TikTok in Six Steps

Implement this process covering how to advertise business on TikTok and you’ll be well on your way to achieving TikTok success:

1 – Create a TikTok Business Account

The first step is creating a TikTok business account

To do this, download the TikTok app and sign up for an account. If you already have a personal account, you’ll be glad to know that TikTok allows you to have up to three accounts on one device.

You can sign up for TikTok using a Google, Instagram, Facebook, or email account. This should only take a few minutes.

2 – Set Up Your TikTok Business Ads Manager

Once you’ve logged into your TikTok business account for the first time, you’ll see a pop-up form where you can enter company details like a business description, street address, postal code, and website.

Pay special attention to how you type your company’s URL. It must be in this format or TikTok won’t accept it: https://www.yourwebsitename.com/

From here, TikTok reviews your website and looks at factors like:

  • Is your website working correctly?
  • Does it contain all the necessary contact information?
  • Is it relevant to the product or service you want to promote?

After TikTok approves your business ads manager account, you’ll have to select a payment method. You can choose between manual or automatic payments.

3 – Set Up Your Ad Campaign

Now that you’re in your TikTok ads account, it’s time to create your first campaign

While you’re reading about how to advertise business on TikTok, keep this in mind: Alongside compelling content, campaign structures separate good advertisers from bad ones.

So before setting up your campaign, think about your advertising goals. Why are you advertising on TikTok?

If you’re a realtor, it might be to get people to visit your listings website and request a callback. If you have an ecommerce store, it’ll be driving traffic and online sales.

Once you decide what your objective is, head to “Campaigns,” and click on “Create.”

TikTok will take you to a screen where you have to choose between simplified and custom mode.

Although custom mode offers better conversions, I recommend sticking to simplified mode when first starting. This way, you’ll get your feet wet without all the heavy lifting.

Once you’ve gotten a feel for the simplified mode, move to the custom mode as it can take your TikTok campaign to the next level.

Next, pick between manual and automatic ad placements.

This is important because, unlike Facebook, which has its advertising algorithms sorted out, TikTok will show your ads on BuzzFeed and Pangle if you choose automatic placements.

Now comes the fun stuff; audience targeting

As a rule of thumb, you want to target niche audiences.

For example, if you’re selling clothing to women between the ages of 18 and 24 living in the US, enter these guidelines into TikTok, as it will drive relevant traffic to your website.

You can also target users with specific interests, video preferences, and creator interactions.

Using the coffee example from before, a good idea would be to only target users following a specific coffee influencer. Perhaps this influencer also endorses your espresso beans.

As you’re learning how to advertise business on TikTok, you’ll get a clearer idea of who your target audience is.

4 – Pick Budget, Optimization Benchmarks, and Schedule Your Campaign

Your TikTok budget will primarily depend on the product you’re promoting.

If you’re selling high-end espresso machines worth $1,000, it’ll take more ads to get results. Whereas if you’re promoting a less expensive item, say a pair of jeans, you won’t have to spend as much.

Below the budget, you’ll find a section titled “Bidding & Optimization.”

Here, you can choose to either bid for the lowest cost and maximize your results or opt for a bid cap.

This is when TikTok keeps your average cost per result lower than your bid. Both options have their advantages. I suggest playing around with each of them to see which works best for you.

Once you’ve optimized your benchmarks, schedule your campaign and click “Submit.”

5 – Upload Creative Ad Content and Assets

You need to do more than copy and paste advertising videos into TikTok and expect results.

Thousands of brands are creating short and engaging content on TikTok, so it’s necessary to upload creative content that’ll hook your reader.

To do this, you have two options:

  • Educate the customer

Or

  • Emotionally engage the customer

TikTok is a competitive platform. You have to educate or engage people within two to three seconds in a way that’s relevant to your product.

Grab their attention to prevent them from swiping through your content.

The best way to do this is to spend time on TikTok and see what other creators are doing. This will allow you to manage your content creators effectively or even create content yourself.

6 – Monitor Your TikTok Business Ad Campaign

The last step is monitoring your campaigns on your TikTok dashboard.

Figure out what works and what doesn’t. Be patient. Once something shows promise, use it and build off your own success.

How Much Does It Cost To Advertise Business on TikTok?

TikTok’s pricing for ad campaigns is dynamic. This means it varies on a case by case basis and is ever changing.

Most users find TikTok ads to start around $10 per 1,000 views. Keep in mind, this is just what users have seen in the past. As TikTok continues to gain popularity, the space for advertising becomes more competitive.

Pricing is based on several factors, including your target audience, the amount of views you’re aiming to achieve, current demand for your niche, and how aggressive you want your campaign to be.

Tips For Advertising Business on TikTok

Want to see conversions faster? Implement these tips to help speed up your TikTok ad results:

  • Incorporate TikTok influencers in your campaign
  • Prioritize user generated content
  • Make interesting videos with clear descriptions

Incorporate TikTok Influencers in Your Campaign

Incorporating TikTok influencers is like a cheat code to gaining a large following quickly. It might be expensive partnering with an established influencer, but if you have the budget, it’s worth considering.

By partnering with influencers, you’re borrowing their audience’s attention.

Some TikTok users might see your collaboration and try your product just because their favorite influencer is promoting it.

Prioritize User Generated Content

Few people will care if you say something good about your business.

But what if you could get customers to create content on TikTok endorsing your product? You’ll gain credibility, and the hype around your brand will be authentic.

You can do this by asking customers to post reviews about your product on TikTok soon after checking out.

If that doesn’t work, you could let customers earn special discounts for your product or services by posting your product on their TikTok account. This not only boosts your TikTok presence, but also brings customers back to your business.

Make Interesting Videos with Clear Descriptions

TikTok allows videos to be up to one minute long. This means you have little time to catch your audience’s attention.

Try gaining potential customers with funny, interesting, or controversial videos.

SEO (search engine optimization) is also important when appealing to the TikTok algorithm. By writing a straightforward, detailed description, you’re telling TikTok what your videos are about.

This encourages them to suggest your clips to users who search for similar keywords or content. Plus, if you do it yourself, it’s completely free!
