Is Fetch Rewards Safe? [2024 Answer] Where to Be Careful

Some of the links in this post are from our sponsors, and we might earn a commission if you click on one.

The average American spends $66,928 a year. Wouldn’t it be nice to get rewarded for all that spending?

Thanks to Fetch, you can!

Fetch is a rewards app that sends you gift cards for uploading receipts. You don’t have to do anything special. Just shop as you normally would, then capture your receipts with your smartphone.

Ah, but I can hear your concern already: Is Fetch Rewards Safe?

It is – and it can be pretty lucrative, too!

I’ll explain how to make the most of the platform in this complete Fetch Rewards review.

What is Fetch Rewards?

Fetch, which used to be called Fetch Rewards, is an app that lets you earn gift cards by uploading receipts.

What’s great about Fetch is that you don’t have to change the way you shop. You can buy things online or in person. You just have to upload the receipt when you’re done.

While any receipt will give you points in the app, you can earn even more by shopping with certain retailers and brands. That means you can strategize to maximize your rewards!

And once you’ve accumulated enough points, you can exchange them for gift cards to popular retailers like Walmart, Amazon, and Starbucks.

So you know how you often say “no” when cashiers ask if you’ll take your receipt? Well, thanks to Fetch, those receipts could turn into gift cards. So, it might be time to start saying “Yes!”

Of course, you’re also wondering, “Is Fetch Rewards safe?” I can tell you it 100% is, and I’ll explain it in detail below!

How Does Fetch Rewards Work?

Getting gift cards for receipts is pretty amazing. Here’s how you can go about it.

The first step is to download the free Fetch app. The app is available through the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. From there, you can start uploading receipts.

Fetch allows you to snap up to 35 receipts in a 7-day period.

You can upload most receipts (Fetch is pretty flexible), but there are a few exceptions.

Here are the receipts that aren’t accepted:

  • Utility or medical bills
  • Tickets from events
  • Return receipts
  • Airline tickets
  • ATM transactions
  • Takeout slips without the restaurant’s name

So as long as you buy a standard product from a typical store, the receipt will most likely be accepted. Just remember that you have to upload the receipt within 14 days of making the purchase.

Now let’s look at the points system:

  • For every receipt you upload, you’ll get at least 25 points, or 35 points if the receipt contains products from a “participating brand.”
  • You can earn extra points on a product-by-product basis by shopping with “participating brands.” Check out the list of brands on Fetch’s official website.
  • The “Discover” page in the Fetch app lets you earn additional points by making specific purchases. Some users call these opportunities “special offers.”
  • Fetch also gives you 100+ points when you refer a friend.

And here’s an inside tip: Taking advantage of those “special offers” is the way to go! There’s no quicker way to accumulate points.

Once you have enough points, you can exchange them for a reward.

You’ll need at least 3,000 points to get the smallest gift card. The more points you have, the more valuable the gift cards you’ll be able to claim.

Your gift card options will appear in the “Rewards” tab within the Fetch app, including gift cards from Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, Panera, and many other major retailers.

So even if you have the most unique taste, you can still find something that interests you!

Gift card delivery is also super efficient. Most are sent electronically, and you will typically receive them within 72 hours.

Is Fetch Rewards Legit?

Fetch is a legitimate platform run by a real, reputable company.

Here are some fast facts about Fetch:

  • The company is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin.
  • It currently has over 500 employees.
  • It’s raised over $580 million in investor funding.

Okay, so none of these details really matter to the everyday user, but they definitely prove that Fetch is totally legit!

Is Fetch Rewards Safe?

It’s time to answer the million-dollar question: Is Fetch Rewards safe?

My answer is a resounding “Yes!”

Fetch is absolutely safe for users. They protect your account with a password of your choosing, and they don’t keep any credit card information on file. In fact, they’ll never even ask you for it!

And sure, Fetch might request certain pieces of personal information (simple things like your name, birthday, mailing address, and email), but it’s just to enhance the user experience.

There’s also a Fetch anti-fraud team that monitors accounts for signs of fraudulent activity. If they see something sketchy, they’ll freeze your account before things get out of hand.

If you’re still asking yourself, “Is Fetch Rewards safe?” I commend you for being so cautious!

But it’s also worth noting what users are saying about the app. Fetch has a 4.7-star rating on Trustpilot, and I couldn’t find a single Fetch review complaining about safety issues.

There is one place where you should be careful, but I wouldn’t quite call it a “safety” concern.

Some Fetch users complain that when they upload receipts, the points aren’t always accurately credited to their accounts. I don’t think the company withholds points on purpose. It’s probably just an unfortunate bug, but it’s definitely something to watch out for.

And if it happens, let Fetch support know. According to several online reviews, the company is usually pretty good about resolving the issue and giving users the points they deserve.

Pros and Cons of Fetch Rewards

So, is Fetch Rewards safe?

Yes, and it has a lot of strengths, but it also has a few basic weaknesses.

Here are the pros and cons to consider as you decide whether to download the Fetch app.

Pros

  • You can upload receipts from any retailer. That means you’re not limited to certain retailers or brands.
  • Gift cards are available from a variety of brands. Whether you want to shop online, visit a big-box store, or grab food from a chain restaurant, you’ll be pleased with the options from Fetch.
  • Gift cards come quickly. You can typically expect your virtual gift cards within 72 hours.

Cons

  • Only available in the U.S. International shoppers should consider another rewards platform.
  • You have to upload receipts within 14 days. That means you can’t let receipts pile up, then scan them all when you get around to it.
  • You can only upload 35 receipts in a 1-week period. That’s probably enough for most people, but if you’re a hardcore shopper, you could end up hitting the limit and losing earning opportunities as a result.

Fetch Rewards Reviews

Fetch gets a lot of reviews online, and most of them are positive. That’s why the app has a 4.7-star overall rating on Trustpilot.

Let’s look at some specific reviews (good and bad), so you can see exactly what people are saying.

I found a 5-star Fetch review that calls the app “one of the best rewards programs out there.”

Another user praised the platform, but pointed out that you have to double-check to make sure you get the points for each receipt.

Of course, even the best platforms have their flaws. For one user, the problem with Fetch is that uploading receipts can be “a pain.”

And while Fetch generally gets good reviews, I did find one negative Fetch review that focuses on bonus points that aren’t actually given.

This seems to be a somewhat common problem, which means it’s important to always make sure you really get the points you deserve.

Is Fetch Rewards Worth It?

Fetch is worth it for almost everybody.

Think about it. Is Fetch Rewards safe? Yep! Will Fetch Rewards cost you anything? Nope!

So it’s all a matter of how much you think your time is worth.

If you’re a billionaire who earns more in a day than most people earn in a year, then sure, your time is probably worth so much that Fetch doesn’t make sense.

But for the rest of us, snapping quick pictures of receipts isn’t some costly waste of time. It’s a quick task that’s easily worth it.

And when you’re enjoying your first gift card, you’ll be glad you took the time with Fetch!
